Thanksgiving

Good Morning!!

I hope you all had a great holiday because I know I did. I ate so much food I can probably go into hibernation right now. My cousin is currently attending culinary school, thus she always brings home the amazing recipes she learns. It was a very tasty dinner and I cannot wait for Christmas dinner.

I went for a vintage look for the holiday which meant ditching the boring jeans and sweater look. I chose Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde minus the beret. It was a perfect choice especially since my bob is starting to grow out, and I admire her character's style in the film. The pencil skirts, chic sweaters, and bad girl attitude is exactly what I wanted. For my makeup I went with the classic bold red lip, sexy cat eye, and a few swipes of bronzer. The key to achieveing a smooth 50s look is to create a flawless complexion with foundation and sweeping bronzer across your cheeks and along the hairline. The goal is to minimize all redness and cover blemishes for a clear complexion. thus, it will make your eyes and lips pop! One can never go wrong with classic beauty!

Instagram Beauty Part 2

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you all have a loving and fun filled holiday!
Be chic, be merry, and eat lots of turkey.
I am currently back in NYC to spend the holiday with my family. What are your plans for this wonderful holiday? What are you thankful for?

Well on a a more fashionable note I have changed my hair yet again. Since I am a college senior it is time to begin the job search and become more professional. Therefore, I have gone to back to black hair. I must say I am actually really happy to have black hair again I totally missed it! A little beauty secret is when you dye your hair jet black it hides split ends and automatically gives you hair a more healthy look.

How do I look??

If there is one thing I am thankful for is my fraternity; my family away from home. We have endured so many struggles and challenges lately but have grown closer everyday. I can honestly say I love them from the bottom for my heart and appreciate every second I spend with them. Thank you God for blessing me with my Alpha Kappa Psi Delta Chi family.

Now everyone knows how chic the french twist is. Just think back to when Audrey Hepburn is standing outside of Tiffany's in the beginning of Breakfast at Tiffany's or all the women on Mad Men. Simply put the french twist is just a simple style that is perfect for a fancy occasion or just a casual day out. Think of it as an alternative to the classic chignon. The funny thing is when I was little girl I absolutely hated when my mami did my hair like this. However, as I got older and started watching all my favorite classic movies I would nag her to do my hair like this and she would not! Instead of helping me, she encouraged me to teach myself. Finally two days a go I took a swing at it and succeeded! Now that I can do it I might take a break from the braided styles I have been wearing and be Holly Golightly.

The famous french twist!!

Here are the braided styles I cannot stop wearing, and also a picture of me as a chic kindergarten student.

Dirty lil Hippie

Happy Sunday!
My hair is currently in the dirty hippie stage because it is a zillion different colors. However, I am leaving my hair be in order to nurse my poor distressed strands back to health. I just love dying my hair so much, but I try to take very good care of it as much as possible. Hair masques, leave in conditioner, and protective styling; you name it I practice it.

Also, I snagged this top from my school's career center. They were giving away donated business attire and I snagged two tops. They kind of have that elementary school teacher circa 1999 vibe but I totally love it. Besides, free clothes are always good.

Like A Diamond...

It is true when you look good you feel good. My health has been on a serious roller coaster ride, in addition to the emotional turmoil I have been experiencing some days I just do not care. However, dressing up just changes my mood. Also, I am starting to realize that taking my health seriously is very important and avoiding the doctor is never ever the answer ladies! Truth is grief and mourning come in emotional waves and no matter how much you want to shut down, it is important to continue to push through  in order for you to heal. It is not an easy process, and every person is different but do not avoid your feelings ever.

As for these hot pants, I love them so much. They make me feel like a human disco ball. Not to mention I loved that all my professors looked twice when I walked into class. My advisor teased me about my glittery shorts but little did she know Saturday Night Fever is one of my favorite movies. Although it is freezing here in Potsdam, NY I couldn't resist the urge to put on my fancy pants. Nothing a pair of handy dandy tights can not fix.

Have a great week lovers!!!

Hot Pants

This look is about three weeks old. Unfortunately, the North Country is starting to get really cold.
In all honesty I am ready for snow! I love when it snows here its much more beautiful than when it snows in NYC. It is cleaner and just full of natural beauty; the river freezes over and the funny thing is it isn't that cold.

I wore this look to my roommates birthday party. It had been pretty warm that week so I wanted to wear shorts one last time. Also I purchased these lovely Calvin Klein boots from Hautelook. They are a lovely company with not just great service but awesome social media responses. They always have amazing flash sales, I just made my second purchase. Its one of my new guilty pleasures. Thank God I did because now a cold front has swept us.

Lastly, I want to send my love and care to all the families on the East Coast affected by hurricane sandy.
As a member of the NYC community I am spreading the word, if you would like to donate anything to the affected peoples of hurricane sandy click the link below.
