Dirty lil Hippie

Happy Sunday!
My hair is currently in the dirty hippie stage because it is a zillion different colors. However, I am leaving my hair be in order to nurse my poor distressed strands back to health. I just love dying my hair so much, but I try to take very good care of it as much as possible. Hair masques, leave in conditioner, and protective styling; you name it I practice it.

Also, I snagged this top from my school's career center. They were giving away donated business attire and I snagged two tops. They kind of have that elementary school teacher circa 1999 vibe but I totally love it. Besides, free clothes are always good.

Ugly Duckling

This was one of those days my friend did not feel like taking my picture.
I took so many, at least 30, and these are the only pictures I like.
Ha, most of the pictures are me being extremely goofy making unflattering faces.
But I thought my makeup looked really cute.

This is one of my laid back looks. I used to be the girl who just reached for sweatpants and a baggy shirt. Now, the first thing I reach for is a s skirt or a dress. My mom always said wearing a dress is much easier you slide it on and take it off. It is true..mother knows best.

Pumpkin Spice

As you can see I love October. Just kidding, I did not intentionally dress like a jack o lantern, but I am so excited for Halloween. However, October is also Hispanic Heritage Month which as you may not know is my culture. I always celebrate my culture, but I love it when universities embrace celebrations like this.

Although, this skirt is one of my summer staples I decided to transition it into fall. As much as I love wearing dark colors I am trying to spice up my wardrobe. I love having accents or pops of color, not necessarily brights. My style has been evolving and I think writing this blog has had plenty to do with it. Sharing looks with men and women as well as reading your lovely comments encourages me to step out and try new things.  Thank you for your inspiration!

PS Would you creeps like one beauty post a week??

Only the blind follow me....

First and foremost, how do you like my new shoes?
I love them! When I was in 8th grade my mom had bought me my first pair of sequin shoes. They were rainbow colored and fabulous, I wore them until the sequins started falling off. Over the summer I went crazy searching for the perfect sequined ballet flat but I could not find any. However, two weeks ago I was perusing the DSW website and found these babies. I am so glad I found them, not only are they comfy but can be dressed up or down.

Also, I want to take the time out to discuss basics. The long sleeve shirt I am wearing is from Old Navy and is super soft and comfy. I will admit I am addicted to Old Navy and the Gap, I always hit the jackpot when I shop there especially for basic essentials. Not to mention they are both super affordable and of good quality. I would advise anyone to head on over to Old Navy and pick up a few of these long sleeve tees, you will not be disappointed.

Lastly, I want to apologize for such a delayed update. I have been drowning in school work and fraternity meetings. Not to mention I am beginning the tedious process of applying to graduate school! If you have any advice please do share. I accept all words of wisdom and encouragement.

I hope you are enjoying the beginning of October. Ready for Halloween yet??

Inspector Gadget

Life is too short to be unhappy.
Smile and laugh as much as you can.
On Friday Cornel West came and gave a speech at my university, and it touched me beyond belief.
He asked us, what kind of human being do you want to be?
I honestly was stumped. Who do I want to be? What kind of impact will I have on my community?
This question pushed me to inspect my life, values, and ambitions.
Brother West referenced Socrates and living an unexamined life.....something I am deeply considering.

Whatever my calling is in life I want it to help my family, community, and other youth from impoverished communities.

Boy Meets Girl

This is my "I am sick, why is it so cold" outfit.
Over the weekend I came down with a nasty cold, and sometimes I just roll out of bed and throw on the first thing I grab. I actually love these jeans a lot, they actually have the comfort of sweatpants with the boyfriend look. I am currently working on a writing project that have been dying to start all summer. I don't want to give you guys too many details but if you have any of my older posts I will tell you it relates to my death/thriller/sci fi obsession. That is all I am divulging!

I Love College

Hey I am back on campus!
It feels weird being back at school, I miss work and the hustle and bustle of NYC
This is a typical outfit I wear to class, something loose and comfy. I try not to wear sweatpants like the other students. College students here rarely put effort into their appearance. Sometimes it is refreshing to see the few students wih really cool bizzare style. I live for it!
I mean I am a firm believer if you do more than roll out of bed and arrive to class you will feel better, and be taken more seriously!
