Channeling Diane Keaton

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday.
I am sure all of us are recovering from our food comas and wine overloads and beginning the work week.
As for me, I have tortured myself with my intense after Christmas workout!
Time to drop those pounds and become healthy and stylish chicks.

As for my Holiday look I decided to seek inspiration from the amazing Diane Keaton. I didn't settle for one film but I used her all around style from the 1970s to inspire my look. As you may not know I have a few business suits and sometimes I enjoy wearing them as separates  Honestly, women's pants suits are not necessarily the most stylish choice of clothing. However, if you mix and match them as separates they can create an awesome look which is what I did.

I also experimented with braids and twists...what do you think??

Back in Black

This is what Clarkson University students look like during Finals week!!!
Today all of my friends asked me "is this your goth look"..."where is the funeral?"
As I have said before I just love wearing black. I am a huge fan of goth music and metal of course, but this black ensemble sort of just happened.
The one compliment I did receive was "you remind me of Madonna in the Papa don't preach video"

Les Geek C'est Chic

            Good Morning Lovers!

As you may or may not know by now, I wear reading glasses. In school I used to hate wearing my glasses because I always though they were nerdy and unattractive because they weren't designer frames. However, today I have tossed that fear to they wayside and absolutely adore my geek chic glasses! Glasses have become more on trend and have been worn by celebrities, models, and fashionistas all over. Whether they are prescription or non-prescription geek chic glasses are here to stay!

Firmoo was kind enough to send me a free pair of fabulous high quality glasses. As a fashionista who wears glasses you know I was extremely excited to receive a new pair of fashionable glasses.I decided to go with Harry Potter-esque glasses to give me a break from my usual hipster a la Williamsburg square frames. I adore them and how well they fit my face. Usually I try to avoid round frames but I instantly fell in love with them when I saw them online! Not only are they unique but they can be incredibly sexy and chic, think hot librarian. I am definitely putting my new prescription in these babies.
For those of you who don't know Firmoo is the world's most popular online eyeglasses store. They are committed  to offering customers the best quality products at the most affordable prices. Also, Firmoo recently launched a First Pair Free Program to people worldwide. You will absolutely fall in love with the fashionable selection, affordable prices, high quality, fast delivery and good service after trying them with paying shipping only! You even can get a refund/exchange if you are not satisfied. Finals && Holiday Sweaters

It's that time of year again; the time when Christmas music is on the radio and students are freaking out over final exams. As much as I do not enjoy Christmas music I must say it is a nice distraction from all the work I have to do. However, there are only two weeks left of the semester so I am excited to go home for the holidays.

I bought this skirt and sweater on Black Friday. The skirt was only $7! Talk about bargain shopping. I am not usually a huge fan of Black Friday and crowded malls, but I must say it has it's perks. As for this sweater it is so colorful and fun and not something I would normally wear. Since Christmas is coming up I thought it would be nice to invest in a perfect holiday sweater, something without obvious cheesy holiday references. This was the perfect score, and the fact that it was $17 was a bonus! Please ignore the snow boots it has been ridiculously cold and constantly snowing. I am a firm believer in being warm and comfy, not chic and freezing.

Thanksgiving

Good Morning!!

I hope you all had a great holiday because I know I did. I ate so much food I can probably go into hibernation right now. My cousin is currently attending culinary school, thus she always brings home the amazing recipes she learns. It was a very tasty dinner and I cannot wait for Christmas dinner.

I went for a vintage look for the holiday which meant ditching the boring jeans and sweater look. I chose Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde minus the beret. It was a perfect choice especially since my bob is starting to grow out, and I admire her character's style in the film. The pencil skirts, chic sweaters, and bad girl attitude is exactly what I wanted. For my makeup I went with the classic bold red lip, sexy cat eye, and a few swipes of bronzer. The key to achieveing a smooth 50s look is to create a flawless complexion with foundation and sweeping bronzer across your cheeks and along the hairline. The goal is to minimize all redness and cover blemishes for a clear complexion. thus, it will make your eyes and lips pop! One can never go wrong with classic beauty!

Instagram Beauty Part 2

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you all have a loving and fun filled holiday!
Be chic, be merry, and eat lots of turkey.
I am currently back in NYC to spend the holiday with my family. What are your plans for this wonderful holiday? What are you thankful for?

Well on a a more fashionable note I have changed my hair yet again. Since I am a college senior it is time to begin the job search and become more professional. Therefore, I have gone to back to black hair. I must say I am actually really happy to have black hair again I totally missed it! A little beauty secret is when you dye your hair jet black it hides split ends and automatically gives you hair a more healthy look.

How do I look??

If there is one thing I am thankful for is my fraternity; my family away from home. We have endured so many struggles and challenges lately but have grown closer everyday. I can honestly say I love them from the bottom for my heart and appreciate every second I spend with them. Thank you God for blessing me with my Alpha Kappa Psi Delta Chi family.

Instagram Beauty

Now everyone knows how chic the french twist is. Just think back to when Audrey Hepburn is standing outside of Tiffany's in the beginning of Breakfast at Tiffany's or all the women on Mad Men. Simply put the french twist is just a simple style that is perfect for a fancy occasion or just a casual day out. Think of it as an alternative to the classic chignon. The funny thing is when I was little girl I absolutely hated when my mami did my hair like this. However, as I got older and started watching all my favorite classic movies I would nag her to do my hair like this and she would not! Instead of helping me, she encouraged me to teach myself. Finally two days a go I took a swing at it and succeeded! Now that I can do it I might take a break from the braided styles I have been wearing and be Holly Golightly.

The famous french twist!!

Here are the braided styles I cannot stop wearing, and also a picture of me as a chic kindergarten student.

Dirty lil Hippie

Happy Sunday!
My hair is currently in the dirty hippie stage because it is a zillion different colors. However, I am leaving my hair be in order to nurse my poor distressed strands back to health. I just love dying my hair so much, but I try to take very good care of it as much as possible. Hair masques, leave in conditioner, and protective styling; you name it I practice it.

Also, I snagged this top from my school's career center. They were giving away donated business attire and I snagged two tops. They kind of have that elementary school teacher circa 1999 vibe but I totally love it. Besides, free clothes are always good.

Like A Diamond...

It is true when you look good you feel good. My health has been on a serious roller coaster ride, in addition to the emotional turmoil I have been experiencing some days I just do not care. However, dressing up just changes my mood. Also, I am starting to realize that taking my health seriously is very important and avoiding the doctor is never ever the answer ladies! Truth is grief and mourning come in emotional waves and no matter how much you want to shut down, it is important to continue to push through  in order for you to heal. It is not an easy process, and every person is different but do not avoid your feelings ever.

As for these hot pants, I love them so much. They make me feel like a human disco ball. Not to mention I loved that all my professors looked twice when I walked into class. My advisor teased me about my glittery shorts but little did she know Saturday Night Fever is one of my favorite movies. Although it is freezing here in Potsdam, NY I couldn't resist the urge to put on my fancy pants. Nothing a pair of handy dandy tights can not fix.

Have a great week lovers!!!
